- Calcium deficiencies most often occur in the newest growth of a plant. The leaves and new tissue of the plant will curl, twist, and eventually fall off.

Calcium Contributes to normal root system development
Insufficient calcium levels lead to deterioration of the cell membranes.
Plants need calcium for cell wall development and growth. Pathogens attack weak cell walls to invade a plant, and stronger cell wall structure avoids this.

The plant will become chlorotic, with the leaves changing color beginning as a reddish brown and changing over to yellow. The end result is that the leaves curl and eventually drop off of the plant.
